Brown belt students will build their skills in hand strikes, sparring, and self defense while also adding in a new kicking technique. Brown belt students who tested before December 2017 at IMAA learn two Karate forms, called Pinan 4 & Pinan 5. Brown belt students who tested in or after December 2017 at IMAA learn the Karate form called Kata 5.
Requirements for advancement
As with all belts, the following list is only a basic requirement for advancement. To be eligible to test you will have to have a deeper knowledge and understanding of all that we cover in class.
Brown Belt
Fitness Stripe 1. 35 Push ups without coming out of a push-up position
2. 800 Jumping Jacks 3. Horse Stance for 2 minutes and 30 seconds 4. Front Bridge / Plank for 1 minute and 40 seconds |
Form Stripe Demonstrate basic understanding and execution of the Brown belt form, Kata 5
